Saw the city put out the openings for 2027 boards and commissions a while back: City of Conway announces openings for 2027 boards and commissions. I've been chewing on applying for planning or the historic district commission. Retired, been out here by the lake a long time, and with football season over I've got my Friday nights back. Ha.
My real question is time. Is it just a meeting a month and you're home by 8, or is it packets to read ahead, site visits, subcommittees, all that? I don't mind work but I'd like to know what I'm signing up for before I fill anything out.
Anybody here served on either one, or know somebody who has? Would also like to hear if it's worth it or if you mostly just get yelled at over somebody's fence or paint color. Not looking for dirt on anybody, just the honest version.
