Best flea markets / antique malls near Conway? worth the drive

My sister-in-law is coming down from Missouri the second week of July and wants to hunt antiques while she's here. I've lived out in Beaverfork since forever and honestly I've gotten lazy about it, the places I used to go have either closed or I just quit keeping up.

I mostly look for old sewing stuff, buttons, tins, linens, the odd quilt top, and I'll grab old Faulkner County postcards or photos if I can find them (cheap ones, I'm not made of money). She likes the big mall type places where you can wander a couple hours and get out of the heat.

So who's got a favorite? I've heard Morrilton and Greenbrier mentioned, and somebody said there's a spot in Vilonia worth a look. Is Little Rock worth the I-40 headache or is that something you do once a year? Also what time of day do you go, it's going to be 95+ and I'm not hauling her around a parking lot booth at 2 in the afternoon.

And if a place is overpriced and just 'antique' in name only, tell me that too, I'd rather know before we burn the gas.

Go early, 10ish when they open, and you're out before the heat. Morrilton's an easy drive down I-40. Little Rock is a once-a-year trip for me, so I'd skip it with a sister-in-law in tow.

If anyone has actual shop names and hours, post them so Barb isn't guessing. Also say which ones are overpriced, she asked.

Agree on going early. Last July I made the mistake of getting out there around 1 and the AC inside was fighting a losing battle, plus the lot was a skillet. Morning is the move.

I'm not going to rattle off shop names and hours from memory, because they change and I'd hate to send Barb and her sister-in-law to a locked door. Most of these places keep their hours on a Facebook page, so check there or just call the morning of.

On the overpriced question, the thing to know about the big malls is that every booth is a different dealer setting their own prices. One aisle can be way too high and the next one is a steal. If something looks high, give it a few booths before you decide the whole place is a rip-off. Budget buttons and sewing notions are usually in boxes at the bottom of a case or under the table, so look low. For postcards, ask at the front counter. A couple of dealers usually keep paper stuff in binders that aren't out on the floor.

I go mostly for old hardware and glass doorknobs for the house, so I'm probably the wrong guy for quilt tops. Hope she finds some good ones.

Thanks, that's helpful. Never thought to ask at the counter for the paper stuff, I always just looked at what was out on the tables and gave up. Binders makes sense. I'll look low for the buttons too, my knees will complain but oh well.

Good point on the Facebook pages. I'll call the morning we go so we don't drive to a locked door.

If anybody comes across old Conway postcards, the Front Street ones or the old depot, I'll gladly pay a couple dollars. I've got a few from my mother-in-law's box and I'd like more.

Barb try the church rummage sales and estate sales too, thats where I usually find old photos and postcards for a quarter or so. Saturday mornings mostly. Also check for road work on 40 headed to Morrilton before yall go, theres always some cone zone slowing things up out there
