Hendrix moved a couple of the sculptures - free Saturday idea

Went over to Hendrix this morning and noticed a couple of the sculptures aren't where they were. The Roy Tamboli one, Neutrino, is now out in front of Acxiom Hall, and the D.E. Shaw piece (Betatakin No. 11) used to be tucked behind Cabe Theatre and now faces Pecan Court. Honestly I like it better where it is, you actually see it now instead of stumbling on it.

The campus is just nice to walk around, even when it's hot. Plenty of shade if you stick to the older part. Hendrix has been in Conway since 1890 and I still find something new every time, which says something about me I guess.

The Windgate Museum of Art is free too, over by Winfield and Harkrider. Tuesday through Saturday, noon to 5, so you can still catch it today if you're quick. I'd call ahead or check what they're doing about masks and how many people they let in, things keep changing.

Anyway it got me thinking, what other free stuff is there to do around here? I've got my usual spots but I'm sure I'm missing some. Anybody have a favorite cheap or free Saturday in Conway? Bonus if it's something a person my age can do without a lot of walking... I'm out in Beaverfork so I don't mind driving in.

Neutrino out in front of Acxiom makes sense, it always looked a little lost where it was before. Haven't seen the Shaw piece at Pecan Court yet, I'll swing by.

If you don't want a lot of walking, Cadron Settlement Park out west on 64 is a good one. Free, usually quiet, and you can park close to the picnic area and the old markers and the creek. Bring a folding chair and you're set. Over my way, the boat ramps on Lake Conway are free too, and sitting there in the evening watching the fishermen come in beats most things on TV.

Football's up in the air this year with everything going on, but if they do let fans into Estes Stadium that's a cheap Friday night at least. I'd check the school district's page before driving in though, the rules keep changing.

Late to this, but Cadron Settlement is a good call. Kids can run around and nobody minds.
