Wife wants to go see Mrs. Doubtfire at Reynolds on the 15th (7 p.m., UCA is putting it on). Adult tickets run $34.50 up to $57.50, and I'm trying to figure out what the extra $23 a head gets us besides bragging rights.
Last time I was in Reynolds was for something years ago and I remember the sound being fine, but I was also stuck way up and to the side behind a guy who apparently never learned that tall people exist. So I'm skeptical of the cheap section, but I'm also skeptical of paying nearly sixty bucks to watch a man in a rubber mask do a bit I've already seen the movie version of. For comparison, I can get into a Bears game for less than that and at least yell at somebody there.
So for anybody who's sat in different parts of the hall: is the middle of the orchestra level worth the jump, or is the front of the mezzanine just as good for a lot less? Does it matter for a musical where you want to see faces and not just the top of everyone's hair? And is the legroom as bad as I remember?
Also, if you want to save your money, the Hendrix Players are doing The Imaginary Invalid at Cabe Theatre Nov 11 to 14. It's free, you just have to reserve a spot. I'll probably drag myself to that one too, mostly because free is my favorite price. Haven't seen a Hendrix show in a while, so I can't tell you if it's any good, but you can't beat the ticket price.
Anyone been to either one, or have a seat opinion?
