saw this on reddit, central arkansas nerf club does a free nerf war once a month out at Beaverfork Park. 16 and up and they got loaner guns so no experience. here is the post

I live right by there and never knew what all them cars was on a saturday. Anybody actually gone? Is it fun for grown folks or just a bunch of college kids. Grandson wants me to take him, im 68 and my knees arent what they was lol

Also any other casual meetups in conway besides church stuff and yard sales. Not much goin on this time of yr

Haven't been myself, I'm 71 and I'd be the first one out lol. But I'd take the grandson and just stand at the edge the first time and watch. Nobody needs you running around to keep you company, I'd think.

For the not-much-going-on part, the Faulkner County Library usually has a craft or knitting group or two on the calendar, worth checking. I go to a sewing circle a couple times a month and they always want new folks. And downtown gets pretty with the Christmas lights this time of year, then you can walk over and eat something at one of the local places after. Easy on the knees.

Barb's got the right idea about standing at the edge the first time. I'm over in Beaverfork too, and those Saturday cars are the nerf folks. I haven't played, but I walked past once and it looked a lot more mixed than just college kids. Plenty of people in their 30s and 40s, a couple of dads with teenagers. Everybody was pretty friendly about handing out loaner blasters to a guy who was clearly just being nosy. Wear shoes with real grip though. The ground out there gets sloppy this time of year, and I'd hate for your knees to find that out the hard way.

For other stuff, if you like fixing things, ask around about Habitat for Humanity of Faulkner County. They always need volunteers, and you don't have to be a pro. It's a good way to meet people and you can mostly work at your own pace. I've also seen a few folks at the hardware stores around town say they run little repair meetups, but I couldn't tell you who. Might be worth asking at the counter.

Haven't been myself but I'd say take the grandson. A 16+ thing with loaner blasters is about as low pressure as it gets, and you can stand at the edge like Barb said and just watch the first time. Kyle's right about the shoes too, Beaverfork gets muddy after any rain..

For other stuff, I second the Habitat idea if you like working with your hands. Most of it is just showing up and somebody hands you a tool. The farmers market slows down this time of year but some of the vendors still do holiday Saturdays, worth a look and a coffee. Good way to bump into people.

Take care

Farmers market holiday Saturdays is a good one, I'd forgotten about that. Cedric, you could do that in the morning and then swing by Beaverfork and see if the nerf crowd is out, since you're right there anyway.

If you like local history at all, the Faulkner County Museum downtown is worth a poke around, and I think they do talks every so often. Check their hours first though, they're not open every day. Good time of year for it when there's not much else going on.
